Cars = bad, roads = bad, owning land = bad, hearing your neighbors fucking on the floor above you at 3:00 AM = new aspirational social paradigm?
I personally hate the amount of people I'd need to be around to live in a dense urban center just so I can live longer and deal with other peoples' bullshit for an extra ten years while I am burning through the money I don't have left.
For a website that focuses on tech and the progress of the human species, the fact that this "urban planning" recidivist thinking keep coming up is just silly. It is the polar opposite of progress, which seeks to harness technology to expand and grow as a species; it says "Don't worry about figuring out how to control metabolism/increase nutrition/make GMOs acceptable/modify food production, don't worry about understanding the psychology behind consumption itself, don't focus on the need for human's to want to determine their own tribes and to want space, ignore the fact that for the first time in human history (the last century) upward mobility has actually ALLOWED people to eat more than they can have rather than starve to death...just move to NY and stop being a fatty you fat fatty."
Simply put: I prefer not to.
